We had a fabulous stay in Polchar. Found the house perfect and both house and large garden had so much charm and charact Positive: The house was warm, homely and well equipped. The house was spacious and the decor was beautiful. There was ageing in areas but that added to the character of the property. Negative: We loved it all.

Very enjoyable. May well book again. Positive: We were very impressed by the facilities and the spaciousness of The Polchar. The children loved the football pitch and the adults enjoyed the hot tub. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of dishes , pans etc , more than sufficient for the size of our party. The gardens were particularly attractive, beautifully designed and glowing with autumn colour. Negative: Minor details but requiring maintenance- upstairs bedroom- very slow drainage in shower and carbon monoxide detector beeping as batteries low. Flickering lights in second upstairs bedroom. Loose front on cutlery drawer. A hairdryer would have been useful.

Hands down the best place anyone in our family of ten has ever stayed. We all walked in and immediately wished we could stay forever. The surroundings are beautiful. There was a soccer field we were on constantly. A garden, river, playground, apple orchard, and a house full of stories. I don't think we have ever felt so blessed to spend money on a place to stay but it was worth every dollar. I give 10 stars to Marco and his listing in Aviemore.

We loved our stay within the Rothiemurchus Estate. Although Airbnb doesn't make it explicit, the house is part of an extensive family estate in the Cairngorms National Park studded with possible activities and events. While the estate can be quite busy, the house is set away in a lovely, quiet spot with its own garden. Inside, the house is stunning but comfortable and well-equipped for a group stay. We enjoyed fires, relaxing in the garden (when the elusive sun was actually out!), and nearby walks/hikes. As Americans unfamiliar with AGA stoves, we had trouble figuring out its intricacies, but managed with some experimentation. (There is an additional electric range as well, but it's down some steep stairs off the main kitchen.) Really a beautiful house in an equally beautiful location.

We cannot rave enough about our stay at The Polchar. It is like living in a fairytale. The gardens are out of this world, and the house was extremely comfortable and homey for our entire party. The easy access to Aviemore and Loch Eilein also made it a winner all around. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Definitely magical and enchanting home and gardens to explore and lets your imagination run wild as to it’s previous his Positive: Adorably Unique in every way, comfortably and beautifully decorated with very “homey” feel, beds and linens/duvet extremely comfortable, centrally located for our activities, activities for little ones, so much indoors and outdoors in the gardens to explore!! Negative: We could not figure out how to use the stove/ovens even with owner’s manual. Also, no electrical outlet for hairdryer or flat iron in bathrooms.

Amazing holiday Positive: Fabulous family holiday. The host was so accommodating! We had an amazing time, 6 adults, 2 kids and a dog. We had a BBQ the first night, enjoyed the hot tub, visited the landmark adventure park, go karting and took a walk to a local pub. We got a taxi home and the woman was lovely. The beds were comfortable, we had all the cooking facilities we needed and enjoyed the log fire. We would definitely return! House is beautiful! Negative: Wouldn't stop us returning but the grounds really need some maintenance. There was 2 broken chairs and a table and a lot of over grown areas. The playpark is right at the bottom of the garden so not in sight. There is a house on the land that was empty but we were informed people were staying in it on our last night. Did not bother us at all but worth knowing as the hot tub looks on to the house. Also if you have a dog its enclosed but they could still go far and we removed a tic, so kept him close by

Heerlijk! Precies de vibe die je wilt en heerlijke bedden. Positive: Allereerst de sfeer die het huisje uitstraalt. Dit wil je! De bedden liggen heerlijk en heel fijn dat we allemaal onze eigen badkamer hadden. Negative: In een aantal van de douches leek de douchekop wat te zwaar voor de houder waardoor deze naar beneden bleef hangen en je de kop zelf moest vasthouden. Beetje onhandig, maar het ging wel. Ook vonden wij het lastig om met het fornuis te werken.

Cannot recommend highly enough, perfect place for our friends& family stay for a wintry break. Positive: The house, the grounds, the facilities, hot tub, the size of the property and bedrooms/ living rooms and warmth- the place was absolutely fantastic, couldn't have found or asked for more for our Hogmanay trip. Kids and dogs especially loved the incredible spaces to roam and play areas and woods surrounding the house. Negative: Nothing- any queries were addressed by Marco ahead of arriving and any questions when we were there were answered promptly. The weather was pretty heavy snow/cold when we were there (which was awesome) so we had to consider some additional stuff- snow-shovels, brushes etc that weren't in the house, but Marco promptly informed us where within the grounds/sheds to find what we needed.

Rural Aviemore stay Positive: The location and size of property were great for our party of 8. Bedrooms were all good sized. Kitchen was extremely well stocked with everything you could need. Negative: We experienced issues with the lack of bins throughout the property. The kitchen bin was broken, which was not acceptable. The outside bins were full before we even arrived so there was nowhere suitable to dispose of rubbish. We found this to be poor. We struggled to get the aga working properly. One of the bedrooms had crisps on the floor, so this didn't appear to have been cleaned properly. There was also a fair amount of dust, granted in harder to reach areas, however this did give the overall feel that the property wasn't particularly clean. The gardens were vast and lots of seating etc, however it all just felt a little bit uncared for, with leaves piling up and weeds in all the planters. It just could have been nicer.

Zauberhaftes Haus braucht mehr Pflege um zauberhaft zu bleiben Positive: Das Haus ist einfach zauberhaft. Es gibt überall etwas zu bestaunen, es ist urig, gemütlich und nahezu perfekt für ein Familientreffen! Der gesamte Garten ist ein Abenteuer für Kinder und wirkt ebenfalls wie verzaubert. Die Lage ist toll, inmitten der Natur voller Ruhe…einfach wundervoll in einem so historischen Haus für eine Zeit leben zu dürfen! Das Team vor Ort, was etwas reparieren musste war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Der Kontakt zu Marco war unkompliziert und hilfreich. Negative: Leider war das Anwesen etwas ungepflegt. Die Bilder zeigen einen ausnahmslosen Zustand - in Wirklichkeit braucht es etwas mehr Liebe und Pflege der Beete. Wir haben recht viel Müll auf dem Grundstück gefunden. Ein zerbrochenes Fußballtor lag einfach so auf dem Rasen. Das Glas des Vormieters war noch da. Fensterscheiben im Haus sind gerissen und wurden nicht getauscht. In den Zimmern der oberen Etage sind die offenen Spitzböden voller Spinnweben. Wir mussten mehrfach wegen einer nicht funktionierenden Spülung mit der Hausverwaltung in Kontakt treten. Der Kontakt war grundsätzlich hilfreich, jedoch auch etwas fordernd. Es wurde eine Erreichbarkeit von uns vorausgesetzt (wegen des Schlüssels). Im Urlaub möchte ich mich um solche Dinge nicht kümmern müssen. Ein Ersatzschlüssel sollte beim Verwalter zur Verfügung stehen. Für diese Mankos wars die Unterkunft einfach zu teuer.

Positive: The Polchar was absolutely amazing. We loved it. The house was beautiful and wonderfully clean. It was charming, spacious and well equipped. The grounds were stunning and extensive. Really beautiful. Having the play area was amazing for our 16 month old daughter - it made our lives much easier! Location was fantastic - very easy to get to all the local attractions and countryside. The hot tub was lovely. Marco was very communicative and helpful. Will absolutely stay again. Could not recommend it more. Negative: We loved the property. But some of the outside areas needed a bit of attention. There was a broken goal post on the lawn, some areas of the grounds taped off, and some of the play equipment needed some maintenance.

Peaceful and Comfortable Stay at The Polchar The Polchar is a lovely property set in spacious, well-kept gardens and surrounded by beautiful countryside. There are plenty of walking routes and outdoor activities nearby, which made it a great spot to unwind and explore. The house itself was cosy and full of character. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, and there was also an outdoor kitchen, firepits, a BBQ, and a hot tub—which were great additions for evenings outside. Marco the host was very responsive and professional. The place is lovely and we would love to stay again.

Mums 70th birthday trip Positive: Everything! The house and gardens are gorgeous! The house is so comfortable, kitchen has everything you need, great location, my mother in law is a keen gardener this house stood out for us because of the beautiful gardens, she was very happy to potter about the garden during our stay and tend to a few of the plants and flowers. We had a lovely stay, the host even returned a left behind bag to us in the post. 5 star review from us. Negative: Having to leave was the worst part of our stay.

Felt like being trusted to stay at wealthy laird home. Positive: Absolutely royal feeling to stay at this estate. Felt like a true laird :) House was huge, with ensuite bathrooms for every bedroom. Beds were extra soft and comfy. huge kitchen with all the appliances you could think of needing. Used the best barbecue grill for great food and outdoor jacuzzi for relaxing evenings. The BEST place to stay with extended family or friends! Recommended! Negative: children's playground was a little worn down, but they still had fun.

Lijkt een huis uit een film! Positive: De enorme ruimte in en om het huis, de behulpzaamheid van de host, prachtige kamers passend bij het huis, fantastische lokatie met prachtige tuinen en vijver. Vanuit hier vele activiteiten te ondernemen, je zit zo op de doorgaande weg. Prachtig wandelgebied. Negative: Op hetzelfde terrein is nog een woning. Daarom kunnen er bijvoorbeeld mensen langs lopen. Door de houten kozijnen, deuren en vloeren sloten niet alle deuren even goed.

We had a great stay. The house is very traditional and the pictures dont do it justice for how large it is. There are many great sized rooms. There are 3 en suites, and an additional two bedrooms that share a bathroom. The outdoor space is excellent. The jacuzzi was very pleasant and there were two clean BBQs. Great walks directly from the house. There is an aga and electric cooker for food. The aga made the place nice and cosy. Theres lots of fireplaces around the house. Theres a house closeby but it wasnt occupied the entire time we were there so still felt secluded and private. Still close to Aviemore that has plenty of shops for buying food etc. We had 3 cars and there was plenty of room. Communication was great with quick responses and very easy checkin.

February half term holiday Positive: Stayed as a family of 4 for 7 nights, we loved the house, the space it had to offer, and the solitude. If you want to relax completely, then this is the perfect place. The rooms have lots of space and are very comfortable, and the surrounding grounds are amazing with plenty places to explore. Sitting in the Hot tub at night under the winter starry skies in sub zero temperatures was fabulous. The host Marco, although not present at the property, was very communicative and accommodating Overall, we had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay and will hopefully return again sometime in the future.

Quality time with family. Positive: This house was fantastic. Such a unique house. The photos don't do it justice. Very well equipped. Cosy and quirky. The host has put a lot of thought and effort into the whole house. Every bedroom was different but equally comfortable. Well equipped with everything you need for a break away with family and friends. Negative: There are extra logs outside for the fire. Perhaps a wee log store to keep them dry. We had some issues keeping the fire lit as the extra logs were kept outside and were wet/damp with the weather. Very minor but some areas being missed when cleaning. Cobwebs in Various corners, behind curtains etc.

We had a lovely family Christmas holiday! Positive: Great for a family gathering. Nice big kitchen with plenty of facilities - outdoor bbq, aga stove & oven, etc. Great outdoor space for kids, hot tub, and only short drive to Aviemore and Cairngorms. Very responsive host. Negative: We had some issues with hot water supply in some of the bathrooms which was promptly addressed by the host.

Excellent week in an amazing house Positive: Location, the house was beautiful, any issues dealing with Marco was a pleasure and communications excellent. Negative: For our group of friends, it would have been nice for the garden area ( which is extensive) to have been tidied up. We did use the hot tub, but difficult to use the rest of the area, we did see grouse and deer in the garden ( which was good)

An incredible place to stay Positive: This place is incredible! It's huge and so beautiful. Everything about it is incredibly high quality. The garden is lovely with a barbecue, play area for children and lots of nooks to tuck yourself away in for a quiet afternoon. The location is fantastic, just a short drive from Aviemore with easy driving access to local walks, lochs, mountains and even the beach at Loch Morlich. Each bedroom has an en suite and the kitchen is extremely well equipped. Ideal for a group to stay! Negative: Some of the outside equipment (barbecue, wood burner) we're dirty and we had to clean them before use. If you're not travelling by car, it is quite a walk along a road to the nearest bus stop.

Extensive outdoor space. Negative: The WiFi service is patchy. We booked a space at the nearby Workspace Highland for an important work call. The kitchen has an electric Aga, which takes some getting used to.

Great weekend in a lovely secluded character filled property. Positive: We all loved our stay at The Polchar. We are an extended family of 9 people and found the property comfortable with plenty of space for everyone. The bedrooms are well proportioned and are nicely furnished in keeping with this older character filled property. Plenty of hot water and lovely toiletries in the en-suite bathrooms too. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking a proper meal and is very well equipped. Although the house is in a quiet secluded location, it is less than a 5 minute drive off the main road and only a little further into Aviemore with all the facilities on offer there. The garden is amazing, really large with different sections for exploring with some amazing plants, ponds and trees. The hot tub was also well used, a really nice addition to the facilities. Special mention to our host Marco who responded quickly and was very helpful. Negative: The WiFi is a bit intermittent but we were informed about this beforehand so not an issue and very understandable in the location. Sad we didn't stay longer.

Amazing place. Would stay again! Positive: - Communication with hosts was brilliant and they helped to resolve any of our minor niggles quickly. - Location. No traffic whatsoever, so nice and quiet. - Communal spaces for dining, playing games. - Immediately local access to walks and bike rides. - Hot tub! - Large beds. - Steam shower. Negative: - A welcome guidebook would be useful for local walks and activities or troubleshooting minor issues like WiFi or the hottub going cold. - The Internet only works for one or two devices at a time. They're on a satellite link which wont be perfect but I think the issue we had was more with the router limiting connections. Upstairs I could get a perfectly fine Internet signal through my mobile network, but no reception downstairs. Made it frustrating for planning each day's activities. - Smoke alarm is VERY sensitive. But I guess this also a good thing! - The hot tub got cold on two occasions during the week and it wasn't clear how to remedy the issue.

Idyllic Positive: We loved everything about The Polchar ! Beautiful property full of character, set in a wonderful peaceful location with amazing grounds and views. The house is full of surprises, with quirky artefacts, and great attention has been shown . You feel like the host had invited you to stay with him/her. The beds were large and so comfortable, with spotless linen and soft white bath towels had been rolled and laid on each bed. The kitchen has an Aga which we enjoyed using for breakfasts, but as the weather was glorious, sunny and 25 degrees throughout are stay, we used the fantastic built -in barbecue and ate alfresco at the large round garden table areas which had a safe built -in fire to keep you cosy as the night drew in. The hot tub was a huge success! Thanks must go to Marco for his efficiency and pleasant demeanour. Our special family birthday celebration will be locked into our memories forever. We felt like we had found our perfect place. I’d live there forever ! Negative: Nothing

zeer aangenaam Positive: prachtig huis, stijlvol ingericht op geweldige locatie met prachtige tuin en van alle gemakken voorzien. Negative: wat je niet ziet op de foto’s is dat er een ander (veel groter) huis vlak op dit huis staat. Gelukkig was dit niet ook verhuurt toen wij er zaten. je zou anders geen tot weinig privacy hebben.

Can’t wait to go back! Positive: We really enjoyed our stay at The Polchar. Aviemore is one of our favourite places and this property was a perfect size and location for us. Marco was the property manager and he was very helpful from initial booking to after we checked out.

Incredible Holiday! Positive: Absolutely everything! What a fantastic property, superb character, fantastic adventurous grounds to suit everyone. The property had everything and more, perfect space for families/friends to get together. We loved the outdoor space especially, it was incredible having access to multiple gardens, hotub, outdoor play area, a stream at the bottom of the garden, and multiple dining/seating areas outside, and how could I forget the outdoor kitchen bbq area, with a fire to the seating area and two large hammocks on the lawn. The property offers so much more than the basics, such as a dish washer, washing machine, tumble dryer, and an ensuite to the king bedrooms! Plenty of storage in all bedrooms, and all the cleaning and toiletries you could possibly need. Huge fridge/freezer in the kitchen, too, and a radio which makes a nice touch. I could go on forever. This property is by far the best holiday home/destination I have ever stayed at. Short drive into Aviemore, short drive/walks to incredible lochs/lakes and waterfalls, where you can skim some rocks and go on an adventure. Negative: There was nothing I didn't like, just a couple things I would have liked, or things that need doing as a general. A pathway of step lights to the hot tub as it is pitch black in the evening. If there are lights that we missed, a useful house guide would be fantastic as it is so big. For example, how to use the big and beautiful Aga Oven (which the owner quickly and happily sent over a link), and any helpful tips for using the hot tub/bbq, which was relatively easy. The upstairs king ensuite bedroom to the left, the shower slowly drains and needs turning off mid shower to drain, so this may need unblocking? The TV in the lounge is in a mirror casing, which makes it very blurry and distorted if you're not sat in front looking directly at it, meaning others cannot see the screen from the other seats. The only other thing may be that there are no tvs in the bedrooms, which i didn't mind at all. We were too busy and tired to need it.

Great family retreat Positive: Wonderful setting and gardens. Short cycle or drive to loch side and amenities. Cottage cosy, great beds and all well maintained. Lots of equipment for cooking indoors and out. Hot tub was great. Host Marco very responsive and helpful. Negative: Large modern barn house also in the grounds very close to the cottage. Does not impact beauty of gardens but overlooks/shares hot tub area. Owners away so did not affect our stay thankfully. Just not clear from the pictures when booking.

Gives you some challanges but worth the experience Positive: Location, structure, garden and property size. Also good space to park your car. Negative: Boiler is not capable to provide hot water to all showers. To have cold showers in december is wild.

It was very enjoyable! Positive: We loved the house itself, which is beautifully decorated, spacious, convenient in every single way. It has a beautiful surrounding garden with a hot tub. It has a wonderful location - 20 minutes drive to the Cairngorm skiing station, 18 min drive to Loch Morlich, 10 min drive to the Loch an Eilein, 7 min drive to the local stores. We had simply great time there and our children loved it! We will definitely come back! Negative: The only issue was the Internet connection, which was, unfortunately, quite poor.

This is 100% the best place to stay, if you want to go to mainland Scotland for a holiday - Book it! Positive: With this property it is a case of "What is there not to like" it is by far the best property I have stayed in, i can't fault it at all. from the moment you walk through the front door its fantastic, plenty of space, lovely big comfortable beds, well equipped property. The garden was out of this world, it was funny on the last day my wife showed me areas in the garden i had not found, and I introduced her to a couple of parts she had not found. We really enjoyed our holiday and this property added to the holiday so much. Everyone in our family had nothing but great things to say about The Polchar - Aviemore. The host sent emails to check all was ok, and was a real help each time. This property is worth the money that we paid! Location is great to, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but at the same time its close to Aviemore which has everything you need shop wise, plus the A9 road which makes half of Scotland in easy reach, so loads to do. Negative: hmm... nope... Oh I did not like having to leave at the end of the week :-) haha

Great stay, we all had a lovely time. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Positive: Good location, quiet surroundings. Very homely, clean and had all you could ask for. Negative: Needs more outside lighting especially around the drive, front snd hot tub areas. The hot tub wasn’t in the best location.

Incredible stay Positive: The most incredible house. From the AGA, the house, the outside facilities, the location, and the gardens. The bedrooms felt like 5 star hotel rooms. The family rooms were homely. The gardens were endless. The hottub was the perfect way to end a day exploring the surrounding mountains and lochs. The kitchen had everything needed for family meals. The formal dining room was perfect for a game of cluedo. The fireplaces were all ready for us to light when we arrived. It was the most fabulous family holiday. Negative: A manual with instructions on how to use the AGA, kitchen appliances, outside lights, and TV would be handy. There was a large house on the grounds next door. We weren't affected by it as it was empty the whole time we stayed.
